Moral education - summary

People, due to their uniqueness, require proper guidance in order to perform Good. This guidance will be referred to as moral education or moral improvement.
To my great excitement, this educational improvement process was delivered to Israel in the time of Moses some 3200 years ago.

It suffices that we attain spiritual maturity and raise our self-worth in order to function properly.
In presenting the improvement process we will also elucidate the Commandments designed to actualize this education.

The improvement process

Attaining spiritual maturity
The psychological approach: It is attained through periodically staying in a meditative state
The divine approach: The proper observance of the Sabbath (Saturday) – meaning - being in the Sabbath's holiness.
Periodically being in Sabbath's holiness or in a meditative state melts a person's spiritual blockages as well as his self-image of being a negative creation. Thus encouraging acceptance of  being a positive, intelligent and evolving creature. And so naturally encourages his spiritual forces to mature in time. It also enables the continuance of his spiritual improvement as well as assisting the improvement process of the other stages.

Raising self-esteem: The dramatic means for raising lies in internalizing the divine declaration that man was created in His image.
The divine approach
: The proper observance of the exodus from Egypt, of the Sabbath and of Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement).
Accepting this divine declaration as true
brings us to agree that we are a far more exalted creature than we tend to believe. This sheds away those 'truths' that previously obstructed this raising, leading to the elevation of one's self-esteem in practice. This opens our spiritual gates to any positive development

Since the other was also created in God's image, he too has an elevated self-worth, and therefore is of high value, which brings us to respect, appreciate, love, assist and be near to him.
This results in the disappearance of those reasons behind hostility and the doing of evil, which is the main cause of man's predicament. In parallel, this wonderful value also assists in the construction of a united, helpful and loving human society

Conclusion: It can be said that already with the carrying out of this divine improvement stage,  man's basic predicament will have been solved. This constructs, already at this stage, his path towards the realization of his purpose.

We shall assess other people’s self-worth level by the quality of their assistance, respect, and appreciation to others.
We shall assess a leader's self-worth level according to the quality of treatment he provides his  people.
We shall assess a nation's self value level by the treatment of its elderly, sick, and poor.

Facts show that a person who is not ethically-improved does not recognize true Good, and thus does not recognize the importance and necessity of these improvements. The facts also indicate that when ethically-unimproved public servants decide and execute policy in this realm, poor results follow.
I should mention that people’s low self-esteem is to blame for most of the disasters they have caused others and often themselves along history.
You cannot act correctly when you suffer from this spiritual problem.

In order for this project to succeed, teachers, media people, and public servants  in all their ranks must all have these improved ethical values
In order for this guidance to be correct and have maximal effect, it must begin at school, so that with the attainment of the high school diploma, students will
also attain the said improvement. Thus, and only thus, can we gradually improve human society and prepare future parents to educate their children correctly and consciously.

My basic proposals for any individual in general, and for parents, teachers and the Ministry of Education in particular:

In order for parents to educate their children correctly and consciously, and schools to contribute their share, the following (amongst other things) must exist:

1. A pupil should achieve spiritual maturity alongside with his attainment of a high-school diploma, including basic awareness in human relations, and in how to further his spiritual improvement.
This requires:
A: Suitable educators, who, amongst other things, are spiritually mature and possess a high self-esteem.
    B: Suitable learning programs.
    C: A suitable atmosphere.

2. We must not forget that in the meantime,  to do as much as possible to generally raise our awareness and specifically  those of the parent's as regards moral education and spiritual self-improvement and to encourage its actualization.

I shall conclude with a statement by Hsun-Tzu, a Confucian philosopher, living approximately 2300 years ago,  who believed that people are evil beings, and thus require laws of justice to heed to, punishments to deter them from doing evil, but also schools to lead them into doing good

To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right
