Education
Principles, educational aims and
their expression
According to the General Carta, and Britannica
encyclopedias, as well as to the Webster dictionary,
education is a
recurring social activity engaged in imparting of knowledge; development and improvement
of values, qualities and habits,
including behavioral habits and manners
of thinking.
Education is usually perceived to have the
goal of imparting and developing positive contents,
that is to say for the benefit of people. But
unfortunately it is
also used for negative purposes.
Why
educate?
In order to assist people in development and improvement of their
natural qualities and capabilities (the general education), and of
course, to give them specific knowledge and experience (specific
education),
and
so
make them able as well as desire to function
properly, leading to positive progress
and life-style improvement.
For the best results, it is advised to first assist with the general
development, and only later add the specific knowledge and experience
Education starts
shortly after the mother conceives and lasts far beyond one's
school years. It is usually
done through learning and experience.
Our spiritual powers significantly influence its quality; in some cases,
this may be crucial.
Education takes
part in three domains of
human development and functioning
the physical,
the mental-creative, and the ethical-spiritual.
Education expresses itself through
three basic means: imitation, belief and proof.
Education based on proof is the most credible; it's opposite being the
one based on
belief.
Imitation is considered to be the most primitive of the three .
