It contains a
very concentrated spiritual improving
process, spanning a person's entire life and containing a
significant portion of his ethical development. It could be said
that the Kriat Shema presents man's only actual process of ethical
development and actualization. Developing the love of God (the essence) including its expression and improvement, by section 3.
Developing
the need (essence) of expressing this love, by section 4c. We also notice that each of these processes divides into two secondary stages: Diligent teaching, which would bring about the appearance of the ability, need and initial expression of this love. Recollection, which would trigger, through symbolic activity, the recollection of the essence and its continually improving expression. Note: It is recommended that the two teaching processes' will be carried out separately, yet that the recollections and ongoing expressions be performed as one single action.
The teaching and initial expression of the love of God, by
section 3 of Kriat Shema
What are the "things" that we should repeat and diligently teach
our children? The answer lies within the sentence itself, and is of
course, love towards God. But as we know, in order to be capable of
cultivating and expressing this love, other things are required.
In order for the teaching to be effective, the parent has to create
a positive atmosphere and, of course, to know what and how he should
diligently teach as well as why. The teaching should be performed
according to the order of development, mentioned above.
The teaching whose aim is to satisfy the need of expressing love
towards God, by section 4c The concept "these my words" regards the reward and the punishment from Kriat Shema's second chapter, including the interpretations and conclusions detailed on the preceding pages. God instructs man to comprehend His words and to recognize them as being of the utmost importance. It could be said that they are no less important than the expression of love itself. This learning's goal is to bring about the need to express the love of God and of man. The parent should inscribe this content in his children's heart by means of persuasion and explanation, so that when they look at the sign upon the hand and at the writing on the posts of their house, they will recall the content of "these my words", so the need will arise in them to express love for God and man. In time, they will give this love actual expression when the need appears.
The expression of love and its improvement through recollection,
by section 3 and 4c The matter at hand marks the expression and the continual improvement of the love of God and the love of man by the mature person for the duration of his entire life, by means of symbolic expression. The symbol, or the sign in this case, is "a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes (the Tefillin)" and what is written on "the posts of thy house and on thy gates". Gazing at the sign and at what is written, should awaken the need to express this love (the essence) and, due to that, to its actual expression. Note: For this process to operate properly, one should first create, in both subjects, the associative link between the sign and the essence. If the mature adult recalls the reward and the retribution whenever he looks at the sign on his hand or at the writing on the posts, the need to express love will appear in him, and he will give it practical expression. It could be said that in doing so, the adult actualizes Kriat Shema's divine decree of loving God and man. Since the sign on your hand is very close to the glance of your eyes, you observe it frequently and may thereby accelerate this very important value's expression and improvement. Thus, we are witness to the existence of an accelerated process for the expression and continual improvement of love, which shall burst through that locked gate; that will certainly bring man to efficiently realize his purpose. |
