Types of consciousness
It is common to define the concept of consciousness as one in
which we are awake and aware of our actions and of our
surroundings. Actually, consciousness extends from perfect
alertness to deep sleep. We distinguish between two types of
consciousness.
External consciousness
– the everyday consciousness
This is identified with the physical world, the world of action,
and is symbolized as β (Beta). The average
brainwave frequency at this type of awareness is approximately
20 cycles a second and is managed by the brain’s left
hemisphere. It is ruled by the physical senses: sight, sound,
smell, taste, and touch. It is a world of active alertness, in
which man carries out his everyday physical activities, and in
which logical analytical thinking and creative activity are
present. This world is ruled by the objective, matter-of-fact
approach.
It is a world characterized by tensions, disagreements and
misunderstandings. It is also a world inhabited by good and
evil, positive and negative, where the constructive and the
destructive coexist, and it is frequently used for personal
gain, often at someone else's expense.
Note:
Brain waves are a form of electromagnetic waves, which amongst
other things, characterize the types of consciousness in man.
Alpha consciousness – the
unique consciousness where your spiritual improvements are made
It is a meditative state of mind and symbolized by α. In this state, man is spiritually alert, even
supremely alert. This state of mind is typified by an average
brainwave frequency of 10 cycles a second. At this state both
hemispheres of the brain (the intuitive-right and the
objective-left) are active, and ready to take on any challenge.
This world is ruled by the spiritual senses, also referred to as
the "higher senses", and whose activity is unlimited by time and
space.
This state is typified by profound calm. Agreement,
understanding and unity reign. No arguments, misunderstandings
or distrust. Its dimension is ruled only by the positive and by
the constructive. It is also the optimal state of mind for
creative thinking. It may be seen as the epicenter of man's
intelligence. A dimension of genius is present in it, at which
one's aspirations are to the well being of the multitude. This
is also a state in which one accepts things without subjecting
them to critical thought.
In this state, the mind has tremendous control over most of
man's systems. Words and visualized images posses a special
force. They may be used to program the mind for achieving
important objectives. The spiritual senses can channel the "Universal
Mind" and receive original and creative information and
ideas for solving problems. This is the source that provided the
philosophers of the ancient world with genius. It seems it was
through this source that God revealed Himself to mankind.
The hypnotic state and the
state of "belief" are both
meditative states. Typically, in a state of hypnosis, an
external source is in control of you. However, you can induce
self-hypnotic states and you will control yourself. This control
is one of the keys for providing you with the dramatic
self-improvements detailed in this site and in my book.
The alpha consciousness with all its wonders, is present
inside each and every one of us. Everyone has the ability to
immerse himself in this state and to experience it (The
exceptions are the psychotics, suffering from acute mental
disturbances). Regrettably, only some 10% of humanity are
naturally in this state in their day-to-day lives. The vast
majority of us need special training to enter it.
In order to retain functionality at a high level in the
long-term, it is recommended that we immerse ourselves in this
state for some 15 minutes a day, at least once a day -
preferably in the evening hours, after work. It is also
recommended to enter this state prior to the commencement of an
important task.
Within this consciousness strange spiritual phenomena are
dissolved, such as spiritual blockages, false beliefs and
opinions, and disturbing spiritual traumas
The alpha consciousness
is also man's
natural medicine. In this state, man is afforded better
protection against disease and heals faster.
Summary:
Since this awareness utilizes both of the brain's hemispheres,
man as a whole functions better and more efficiently.
Note: In addition to what has already been told, evidence shows
that β consciousness
incorporates a certain level of α
consciousness. β consciousness
would be enhanced as the level of α
consciousness is increased. These levels depend on the type of
person and his surrounding circumstances |
